Christ the Redeemer is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is 30 metres (98 ft) tall, not including its 8-metre (26 ft) pedestal, and its arms stretch 28 metres (92 ft) wide.
The statue weighs 635 tonnes (625 long, 700 short tons), and is located at the peak of the 700-metre (2,300 ft)Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city. A symbol of Brazilian Christianity, the statue has become an icon for Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. It is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone, and was constructed between 1922 and 1931.
There are too many visitors to the Christ the Redeemer Statue on a typical very busy day. Because of this, there may be very long lines to get to the ticket office to pay the admission fee and/or lines to board the transportation.

Best Time to visit  Christ Redeemer:

The ideal time to explore Christ the Redeemer is during the months of September and October. Visitors will find that the temperatures and humidity are both lower and easier to handle. These cooler temperatures will make exploring Corcovado and the Christ the Redeemer statue easier.The ideal time to explore Christ the Redeemer is later in the afternoon. The sun rises towards the statue which makes a morning visit more challenging because you are looking off into the sun. The later in the afternoon the better as far as sightseeing and visibility.

Buy integrated tickets to Cosme Velho neighborhood, buses from Largo do Machado metro station will leave you across from Corcovado Train station.
By bus:
From Praça XV, Zona Sul direction, take one of the following buses: 422 / 498 / 180. Get off in front of São Judas Tadeu Church.
From Ipanema, bus 570, 583 e 584
From Copacabana, bus 583
From Novo Rio Bus Terminal, take bus 126 (Rodoviária x Laranjeiras), get off in front of Fluminense Sports Club. Walk back towards Laranjeiras Street and take one of the following buses: 422 / 498 / 497 / 180 / 584 / 583
